Event Services Purpose: Connecting the Carolina community through exceptional event services and vibrant facilities. Carolina Union Event Services is a team of passionate experts dedicated to ensuring all meetings and events meet their potential by delivering comprehensive scheduling and ticketing, innovative audio visuals, and welcoming environments.

Position Summary

The Guest Services Manager oversees the Carolina Union Welcome Desk, Carolina Union Ticketing Services, and Carolina Union Event Support. They are responsible for the completion of part-time student employee hiring, scheduling, staff development, area-specific budgets, and finance tasks related to ticketing services.

Qualifications

Minimum Education And Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience:

  • Knowledge of facility operations and conference planning.
  • Familiarity with ticketing for events.
  • Experience with Microsoft computer applications, 25Live or similar scheduling software, eTix or similar ticketing applications.
  • Ability to manage part-time employees.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience:

  • Experience and supervision in a box office or ticketing operation.
  • Experience working at a help desk to address guest needs.
  • Experience in a college /university setting, with special preference for work experience in a college union.
  • Working knowledge of event planning and management and ability to relate successfully in one-to-one and group situations with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent, highly developed communication skills and comfort working with high-level and VIP clients.
  • Ability to articulate planning needs of a diverse university population and guide event development to successful completion.
  • Managerial, business, and financial skills to provide complete and accurate reservations and billing of events.
  • Ability to work as part of a team to assess structural deficiencies and implement effective organizational solutions.
  • Ability to assess individual students’ needs to design and implement training that is intentional, measurable, and beneficial to both employer and employee.
  • Demonstrated abilities in management, event planning, and full-time staff supervision.
  • Experience with managing student employees in an environment committed to student learning.
  • Experience and knowledge in managing conferences and major events.
  • Knowledge of student development and learning.
  • Knowledge of equipment used in presentation of events.
  • Ability to prepare and manage budgets.

Required Licenses/Certifications: Requires a valid NC driver’s license
