The Guest Service Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of the Front Office, including personnel, budget performance, and financial controls.
Prerequisites:
- One year of supervising at least three associates.
- Two years of experience in the service industry.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Summary of Essential Job Functions:
- Perform major life activities such as standing, lifting, bending, learning, reading, concentrating, thinking, and communicating.
- Push or pull 60 pounds unassisted; lift and carry 30 pounds unassisted.
- Stand for eight hours, bend, stretch, reach.
- See and hear adequately.
- Communicate effectively with guests, department heads, and staff.
- Resolve guest issues professionally while maintaining a hospitable attitude.
- Market and promote hotel services to increase exposure and sales.
- Stay organized and proactive in a fast-paced environment.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Maintain a professional team through training, coaching, counseling, and development.
- Promote positive morale and friendly attitudes.
- Operate within budget and labor guidelines to maximize revenue.
- Learn and utilize PMS systems.
- Verify credit card validity; ensure departmental balances at shift end.
- Greet and register guests, assign rooms, maintain privacy, and accommodate special requests.
- Promote and sell hotel services and amenities.
- Encourage repeat business and assist with future reservations.
- Identify sales leads through guest interactions and pass information accordingly.
- Maintain safety and security procedures, including emergency protocols.
- Ensure high-quality guest service and product delivery.
- Inform housekeeping and other departments of special requests and needs.
- Maintain certification from approved vendor training programs.
- Utilize service recovery logs and communicate guest comments promptly.
- Perform other duties as assigned or as staffing needs change.
Working Conditions:
- Position requires physical presence at the hotel; remote work is not feasible.
- Stand and walk for extended periods while maintaining professionalism.
- Work any day or shift, including weekends.
