Summary

Under general supervision of the Director of Patient Experience and within hospital and department policies and procedures, the guest service attendant acts as the first point of contact between patient visitors, guests, and the hospital. Provides an extraordinary patient experience where all feel welcomed, valued, and respected. Has the ability to listen well, anticipate patient visitors' and guests' needs, and provides excellent customer service (answering questions, providing accurate information, and assisting in wayfinding and transport).

Responsibilities
  • Maintains established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, and environmental control.
  • Greets patients, visitors, and guests warmly, making them feel welcome and attended. Provides wayfinding and transport as needed and according to department guidelines.
  • Acts as a liaison between patients, visitors, guests, and hospital departments.
  • Anticipates guest needs to accommodate them and provide an exceptional experience.
  • Screens all visitors and patients using the approved screening process, ensuring adherence to COVID etiquette. Maintains PPE inventory and orders stock as needed. Communicates clearly and respectfully to all guests.
  • Cross-trained in patient and visitor badging systems as a backup to security personnel.
  • Utilizes interpreter services when needed.
  • Ensures main lobby spaces are clean and tidy in cooperation with environmental services.
  • Monitors and controls traffic in the main lobby with security personnel.
  • Answers telephone calls professionally, responds to inquiries regarding patient information, and provides directions and assistance to patients and visitors.
  • Manages patient belongings, food, and flowers, ensuring prompt delivery.
  • Protects confidentiality of information and operates computer systems to retrieve patient data.
  • Provides support to vendors and volunteers, oversees delivery of newspapers, and assists in department operations.
  • Participates in staff meetings, attends in-service and educational programs, and assists in care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent; hospitality-related degree or certificate preferred.
  • Basic computer skills including word processing.
  • Minimum 1-year customer service experience.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Must be able to sit for 3-7 hours, stand or walk for 1-3 hours, lift 10-35 lbs, and perform tasks requiring fine motor skills and good vision. Able to hear at 3 ft distance.

Other Information
