Macy's in San Francisco Union Square is seeking an Asset Protection Officer for a full-time, hourly role. You will be a visible, welcoming presence at store entrances and high-traffic areas, helping deter theft, support safety, and partner with store teams to protect guests and assets.

The role emphasizes service with purpose, responsiveness during incidents, and accurate reporting. Flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays is required, with training provided and opportunities

Qualifications

• Flexible availability including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, colleagues, and supervisors.
• Ability to read and understand employment policies and safety rules in English.
• Strong situational awareness, remaining calm and service-focused during incidents.
• Ability to handle proprietary, sensitive information with discretion.
• In NY, a NY State Security Guard License is required.
• Comfort using technology and two-way communication devices.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a visible, reassuring presence at entrances and high-traffic areas.
• Help deter theft while maintaining a welcoming customer-first approach.
• Partner with store teams to support safety, service, and shortage reduction.
• Respond calmly to incidents, medical situations, and other store needs.
• Document theft, accidents, audits, and other incidents with timely reporting.
• Follow company policies and legal standards for apprehensions and evidence handling.
• Provide testimony in criminal or civil proceedings when needed.
