Job summary

InterContinental Hotels Group is seeking a Room Service Attendant in Houston to deliver meals and beverages to guest rooms and assist in maintaining the room service area. The role requires friendly, attentive service and meticulous order accuracy.

You will interact with guests, coordinate with kitchen and other departments, and help ensure a memorable guest experience. This position emphasizes teamwork, up-selling when appropriate, and adherence to safety and service standards.

Qualifications

• Basic reading, writing and math skills; food service experience with knowledge of restaurant operations.
• Communication skills are used with guests, cooks and supervisors.
• Alcohol awareness certification or food service permit as required by local/state.
• Reading and writing abilities are used when taking orders and completing paperwork.
• Cash handling and credit knowledge may be required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver room service food and beverages to hotel guest rooms.
• Record orders, answer room service phones, and up-sell where appropriate.
• Coordinate VIP deliveries with other departments.
• Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication.
• Assist with setup and closing side-work; stock service station and prep tasks.
• Describe menu items, preparation methods and prices as needed.
• Respect policy and accommodate guest food requests and special needs.
