Job summary

Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, NV is seeking a full-time restaurant server to take beverage and food orders, input them into the POS, deliver meals, and provide attentive guest service throughout shift. You will memorize the menu, answer questions, suggest pairings, and assist with setup for larger groups and events.

Ideal candidates will know alcohol service laws, work well in a team, maintain accuracy in cash handling, and communicate clearly in English. 21+ years old preferred.

Qualifications

• Previous restaurant server experience preferred.
• Knowledge of alcohol service laws and responsible serving.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Good communication skills in English, both written and oral.
• Basic reading, math and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Take beverage and food orders from restaurant guests and input orders into POS system.
• Deliver orders following required standards for the position.
• Prepare tableside items (if applicable) and anticipate guest needs.
• Complete side work including wiping stations, re-stocking supplies, polishing silverware, buffing glasses, set-up service cart, etc.
• Explain menu to guests and answer questions; memorize specials for pairing recommendations.
• Ensure quality of food and service and provide timely table maintenance.
• Assist bussers/ runners and help with setup for larger groups and special events.
• Adhere to SOPs regarding paperwork, cash handling, and auditing.
