Job summary

The Fresh Market — Newport News, VA — is seeking a Guest Service Specialist to lead front-end operations, assist cashiers, and uphold store standards while delivering a warm, hospitality-driven guest experience. You’ll monitor cash controls, guest flow, and merchandising, ensuring every guest leaves with a positive last impression.

We value teamwork, reliability, and a strong work ethic. Requires 2+ years in retail/hospitality and the ability to work weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in retail, grocery, restaurant, or hospitality operations.
• Strong attention to detail with organizational skills, ability to multitask, and work at a fast pace.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Be a visible example of hospitality, educating guests and team members on products, services, and complete meal solutions.
• Manage frontend guest flow and efficiency by directing and supporting cashiers while ensuring backups are minimized to deliver frictionless checkout experiences.
• Execute and uphold cash office procedures and controls, including management of cash, keys, and the safe.
• Direct the guest service team, as scheduled to maintain sanitation and cleanliness at the front end and the guest restrooms.
• Support execution of digital fulfillment orders, ensuring speed, accuracy, and adherence to brand standards.
• Engage guests with a friendly, helpful approach at the front-end and throughout the store.
• Assist in managing the department, inventories, and team for effective minimization of product loss.
