Job summary

Starwood Hotels is seeking a Bell/Door Person to deliver a warm, professional welcome and efficient service at the entry and lobby areas. You will assist guests with luggage, transportation needs, and check-in/check-out tasks while maintaining the highest standards of hospitality.

The role requires excellent English communication, physical ability to lift up to 100 pounds, and the stamina to work in a fast-paced, 24-hour operation across a vibrant New York City property.

Qualifications

• Guest service experience dealing directly with the public.
• Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations.
• Ability to learn and work with technology including devices such as computers, iPods and iPads.
• Fluent in oral and written English and excellent overall communication skills.
• Knowledge of NYC/Brooklyn nightlife and public transportation systems.
• Ability to read written communiques and computer screens.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally and 50 pounds frequently.
• Physical ability to stand for long periods and perform multi-tasking.
• Ability to follow verbal/written instructions and work on several tasks.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication.
• Ability to handle diverse customer service situations with tact.

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests and provide a courteous, efficient check-in and check-out experience.
• Greet and acknowledge guests by name; respond to requests professionally.
• Maintain a positive first impression in lobby/entry areas and assist with luggage and transport.
• Input real-time work orders via HotSOS and relay guest concerns clearly.
• Follow cash handling procedures and adhere to gratuities policy.
• Develop positive relationships with guests and colleagues to support repeat business.
• Follow safety, security, and hotel policies and maintain confidentiality.
