Job summary

Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) seeks a dedicated Highway Maintenance Technician to join our Guardrail Crew in Sheridan, Wyoming. The role focuses on maintaining guardrails, operating heavy equipment, and ensuring safe road conditions across District Four in Northeastern Wyoming.

Ideal candidates will have an Associate's degree in engineering, 0-1 year (or 2-4 years with substitution) of highway maintenance experience, and the ability to obtain a Class A CDL within 12 months.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree (typically in Engineering)
• 0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Highway Maintenance/Highway Construction) or 2-4 years with substitution
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Class A Commercial Driver's License within twelve (12) months of hire
• Must have the ability to obtain certifications to operate specified equipment and Defensive Driving, First Aid/CPR, Flagger

Responsibilities

• Maintains and operates complex equipment safely and proficiently.
• Operates trucks with various equipment to remove snow and ice from roadways.
• Performs maintenance of equipment and facilities in rest areas and related duties.
• Attends mandatory trainings to obtain/maintain required certifications.
• Adheres to safety standards and uses PPE.
• Performs structural and concrete repair work.
