Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Ground Support Equipment Mechanic to service and repair GSE at the MCAS Cherry Point, NC site. You will diagnose malfunctions, perform maintenance, and document actions using both analog and digital tools.

The role requires four years of GSE experience, U.S. citizenship, a valid driver's license, and the ability to obtain a CAC. This on-site position includes health benefits, retirement options, and ongoing training opportunities.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship required for facility credentials/authorization.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be able to speak, read and understand English.
• At a minimum four (4) years of experience in inspection maintenance, repair and modification of powered ground support equipment.
• Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and/or pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks, Respirator, Corrosion Control, and Blasting.
• There is a great deal of standing, climbing, bending and stooping. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Required to clear preliminary Government security background check prior to employment beginning.
• Must be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) which includes a 7-year background check for installation access.
• Must have a valid U.S. Driver's License.
• Must be able to possess and maintain tools required on a minimum tool listing within 30 days of hire date.
• Must have a Negative pre-employment drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses malfunctions and repairs Ground Support Equipment (GSE).
• Advises and trains lower grade workers on diagnosing and repairing less complex problems.
• Inspects and approves completed maintenance actions and maintains equipment records.
• Uses drawings, wiring diagrams and schematics to analyze and repair GSE.
• Maintains and updates paper and electronic equipment records and provides dispatch service for GSE.
• Disassembles and assembles GSE components, performs corrosion control and prepares equipment for storage or deployment.
• Operates, cleans, inspects, and services GSE towing vehicles, and enforces safety and FOD prevention.
