Job summary

Cubic Transportation Systems is seeking a senior strategist to join Cubic Defense leadership. You will help develop and execute long-term plans, coordinate market research, and align growth initiatives across DoD programs.

The role requires deep experience in defense markets, strategic planning, and cross-functional leadership. The position emphasizes collaboration with GM/VPs, messaging development, and ongoing updates to strategic plans.

Qualifications

• Four-year college degree in business, finance, and marketing or related field, plus fifteen years defense/aerospace industry or senior military experience with emphasis in RDT&E programs, demonstrations and transitions of technology to programs of record.
• Understanding of secure communications technologies, customers and opportunities, including SDR, waveforms and hybrid SATCOM.
• MBA or advanced degree highly desirable.
• Prior strategic planning experience in executive capacity — broad business experience evaluating markets and opportunities.
• International business experience desired.
• Proven analytical skills to organize plan and execute acquisitions, agreements, and strategic initiatives, with AI tools in BD and proposals.
• Proven interpersonal skills to interact with U.S. and foreign agencies, customers, executives, and corporate management.
• Ideally a former Commissioned Officer with at least O-6 level command and War College equivalence.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize projects and work under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate strategic plan within service domain and execute growth strategies.
• Lead execution of business strategy with a defined battle rhythm.
• Assess potential opportunities with market/economic analysis and competitive monitoring.
• Identify risks/opportunities and develop mitigation actions.
• Support GM/VPs with key customer engagements including messaging and briefings.
• Update Cubic Defense’s strategic plan quarterly and annually.
• Assist in annual business plan development including forecast reviews.
• Assist and lead Proposal Managers and their activities.
• Lead research on new markets, growth opportunities, and competitive analysis.
