Job summary

Burkett Restaurant Equipment is seeking a Service Manager to lead our shop and field service teams. You will expand on-site repair, preventive maintenance, and warranty service, while ensuring equipment meets OEM specifications and safety standards.

The role combines hands-on technical leadership with people development and business growth. Reports to the VP of Operations; full-time, M-F 8:00am-5:00pm with growth opportunities as the business expands.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a technical service, equipment repair, maintenance, or manufacturing environment, including 3+ years leading hourly or technical teams.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting ability, including reading wiring diagrams and schematics; knowledge of gas, electric, and refrigeration systems or ability to learn quickly.
• Proven track record of improving operational results using work-order management, standard work, and root cause analysis.
• Experience building and managing a budget; comfort with pricing, margins, and basic P&L thinking.
• Customer-facing confidence: able to quote work, explain repairs clearly, and resolve service issues professionally.
• Proficiency with ERP and work-order systems (NetSuite a plus) and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead the service operation: in-shop reconditioning and on-site field service to customers’ kitchens.
• Grow outside service revenue through planned preventive maintenance and service agreements.
• Define standard PM offerings, pricing, and contracts to increase recurring revenue.
• Oversee OEM warranty work and ensure warranty claims are filed and reimbursed on time.
• Manage dispatch, scheduling, and parts inventory; track first-time fix rate and technician utilization.
• Hire, train, and coach shop and field technicians while maintaining safety standards.
