Job summary

Trustco Bank is looking for a Junior Systems Administrator to join our Upstate NY IT team. In this role you will support daily operations and help execute our long-term technology vision under mentorship from senior staff.

The position is full-time with a competitive salary and a strong benefits package, including health, retirement, and paid time off. You will work with experienced professionals to monitor infrastructure and resolve incidents, while engaging with vendors.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in computer engineering or equivalent level of education and experience.
• Excellent knowledge of IT systems and infrastructure.
• At least two years of work experience in all phases of computer operations.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Well-organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work well independently and in groups.
• Working knowledge with Microsoft Office Programs; Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

• Act as the subject matter expert and liaison between the Bank and third-party vendors for critical applications.
• Monitor network performance, manage user accounts, and maintain hardware—from routers to servers.
• Execute preventative maintenance and support system security through antivirus updates and access controls.
• Tackle help desk tickets and resolve user issues to keep the team moving.
• Stay current with IT trends and assist in evaluating new tools for the tech stack.
