Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Lead Data Scientist for SMB Ads Growth to architect the analytics function end-to-end, driving strategy across targeting, funnel optimization and forecasting. You will partner with the SMB Ads Marketing team to inform decisions across product, marketing and sales engineering.

You will build and operationalize growth metrics, develop propensity models and segmentations, and lead rigorous experimentation and reporting to support weekly reviews and quarterly planning.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of data science or growth analytics experience in ads, marketplace, or high-growth B2B.
• Proven track record deploying ML models (propensity, LTV) that moved business metrics.
• Strong SQL, and proficiency in Python or R.

Responsibilities

• Establish North Star KPIs and growth metrics for SMB Ads.
• Diagnose funnel friction and quantify revenue impact of optimizations.
• Partner cross-functionally to translate data findings into roadmaps for product and marketing teams.
• Engineer propensity models and look-alike frameworks for high-LTV advertisers.
• Own target list construction with data enrichment and granular performance tracking.
• Develop segmentation architectures for hyper-personalized outreach across paid, partnership, and outsourced channels.
• Design multi-touch attribution and incrementality frameworks to evaluate channel efficacy.
• Lead the experimental roadmap: formulate hypotheses, execute A/B and multivariate tests, and communicate results to exec leadership.
• Automate reporting and dashboards for real-time visibility during weekly reviews.
