Job summary

Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey is seeking aRating & Underwriting professional to produce rates for 100+ markets and support Stop Loss products. The role focuses on proposal and renewal rates, GEI/BIF approvals, and ERISA reporting for Sales support.

Qualified candidates will have a health insurance industry background, strong analytical skills, and proficiency with MS Office. The position requires a High School diploma or GED, and a Bachelor's degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School diploma or GED.
• Bachelor's degree preferred in Math, Statistics, or Accounting.
• At least 3 years of experience in health insurance with Rating/Underwriting.
• Stop Loss underwriting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops and issues proposal rates for group size 100+ and experience rated proposals.
• Develops and issues experience rated renewals for group size 100+.
• Develops and issues renewal and proposal rates for alternate funded groups.
• Approves GEI and BIFs where applicable.
• Researches rate and benefit inconsistencies and issues corrections and/or recommendations.
• Assembles data and produces ERISA 5500 reports and settlements and issues to Sales, where applicable.
• Makes decisions to offer special financial arrangements to groups and monitors outcomes as required.
• Attends meetings with groups and brokers to discuss renewals and proposals and makes recommendations.
• Maintains and updates monthly financial reports necessary for Enterprise Operations.

About The Role

This position provides Rating & Underwriting services and support to the Sales team and is responsible for the production of rates for the 100+ markets. This position will support Rating & Underwriting services for Stop Loss products.

What You'll Do

• Develops and issues proposal rates for group size 100+ and experience rated proposals.
• Develops and issues experience rated renewals for group size 100+.
• Develops and issues renewal and proposal rates for alternate funded groups.
• Approves Group Enrollment Information (GEI) and Benefit Information Forms (BIFs) where applicable.
• Researches rate and benefit inconsistencies and issues corrections and/or recommendations.
• Assembles data and produces ERISA 5500 reports and settlements and issues to Sales, where applicable.
• Makes decisions to offer special financial arrangements to groups and monitors outcomes as required.
• Attends meetings with groups and brokers to discuss renewals and proposals and makes recommendations.
• Maintains and updates monthly financial reports necessary for Enterprise Operations.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.

What You Bring

• Minimum High School diploma or GED
• Bachelor's degree, preferred in Math, Statistics, or Accounting.
• Analysis experience preferred.
• Requires minimum three (3) year's experience in health insurance industry with experience in Rating/Underwriting.
• Stop Loss underwriting experience highly preferred.

Knowledge

• Requires knowledge of underwriting principles, benefit offerings, alternate financial mechanisms and rating methodology.
• Prefer knowledge of Horizon BCBSNJ products.
• Must be proficient in the use of personal computers and supporting software in a Windows based environment, including MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Salary Range

$79,100 - $105,945

This compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. This range has been created in good faith based on information known to Horizon at the time of posting. Compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case.
