Job summary

Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey is seeking an entry-level Underwriting Support professional to assist with new and renewal accounts. The role focuses on data collection, account setup, rating, quotes, binders, and endorsements, while supporting efficient underwriting workflows.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Minimum of two years experience in an operational role.
• Basic understanding of the healthcare industry preferred.
• Strong computer proficiency with Microsoft Office (Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Demonstrated teamwork, analytical thinking and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational product development for Stop Loss, Individual, Jumbo, Public and National Market Lines, ensuring accurate, timely policy service.
• Coordinate underwriters and internal partners to resolve service needs and support workflow execution.
• Identify issues early, work with underwriting partners to resolve them, and escalate when appropriate.
• Interpret data and set up accounts in appropriate systems, often working directly with the underwriter.
• Monitor underwriting funnel performance, including renewals and quote volume, and communicate drivers behind observed trends.
• Prepare underwriter ERISA file.
• Use underwriting software (STEPWISE) to provide pricing data.

About the Role

Under direct supervision, support for assigned new and renewal accounts. Including but not limited to collecting data, account setup, rating, producing quotes and binders, issuing policies and endorsements. Proactively assist in ensuring the underwriting process is handled efficiently and accurately. Provide Underwriters with required reports and analysis. This is an entry-level position responsible for completing routine assignments while developing foundational skills and gaining experience in analysis and problem-solving.

What You’ll Do

What You Bring

Education/Experience:

Salary Range:

$56,200 - $75,285

This compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. This range has been created in good faith based on information known to Horizon at the time of posting. Compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case.
