Job summary

Dr Reddy’s Laboratories is seeking a Group Lead Intellectual Property Counsel to steer robust IP strategy for North America. You will partner with cross-functional leaders to design, direct, and execute patent litigation and lifecycle management from project identification to potential launch.

The role requires leading teams, guiding external counsel, and ensuring freedom-to-operate across APIs, routes, formulations, and polymorphs. A JD with NJ licensure and strong leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice in New Jersey or eligible for New Jersey in-house license.
• Registration to practice before USPTO strongly preferred.
• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Science or Engineering; chemistry/biochemistry related disciplines preferred.
• Advanced scientific degree (MS or PhD) highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute long-term IP strategies to support business growth and risk management.
• Manage North America patent litigation docket (ANDA/505(b)(2), biosimilar, etc.).
• Guide development and implementation of legal claims, defenses, and litigation strategies with external counsel.
• Ensure freedom-to-operate for products across APIs, routes, formulations, and polymorphs.
• Supervise drafting, prosecution, and maintenance of patent applications with R&D and global teams.
• Lead IP due diligence for in-licensing, partnerships, and strategic collaborations.
• Provide senior IP input to commercial teams for portfolio shaping and deal evaluations.
• Collaborate with R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Portfolio, and Business Development to align IP with science and business.
