Description

This is a full-time, union position with benefits and time off, upon meeting eligibility requirements. Employees start out at pay range Level 1 and progress through seven pay range levels.

Purpose: Develops, coordinates, schedules, implements, supervises, and evaluates a variety of recreational programs, activities and special events including aquatics and fitness programs. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, addressing complaints, and resolving problems. Work schedule is flexible and includes nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and maintain professionalism when dealing with coworkers, supervisors, and the public.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with recruitment, hiring, scheduling/training of volunteers, part-time, and seasonal staff in accordance with the City of Twinsburg Employee Handbook.
  • Plan, organize, direct, and evaluate recreational, aquatic, and fitness activities for all age groups.
  • Maintain training, insurance, and certification records for staff, contractors, and volunteers.
  • Work with the Parks and Recreation Director to develop staffing, facility, and programming policies and fee structures.
  • Create promotional materials and manage weekly announcements.
  • Secure funds through fundraising, sponsorships, grants, and other means.
  • Maintain records, supervise revenue, order supplies, manage budgets, and assist in planning and research.
  • Engage with community groups and the public to promote programs.
  • Prepare manuals, brochures, and reports.
  • Assist in managing department facilities in the absence of the manager/director.
  • Perform routine office functions.
  • Coordinate independent contractors related to programming.
  • Prepare financial, activity, attendance, and maintenance reports.
  • Maintain punctuality and interact with users to promote facility use.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise seasonal and part-time staff, including interviewing, training, scheduling, performance appraisal, and conflict resolution.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree or higher preferred, with two years related experience or equivalent.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and recreational software.
  • Willing to obtain Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR/AED, and other certifications.
  • Ability to interpret safety and operational documents.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and emergency response skills.
  • Valid Ohio driver’s license and eligibility to work in the U.S.

Working Conditions: Exposure to humid conditions, outdoor weather, and occasional hazards. Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and more than 100 pounds occasionally. Noise levels are usually loud.
