Job summary

Xylem Tree Experts and Kendall Vegetation Services is seeking a Groundsperson to support the crew from ground level. You will follow safety rules, keep a clean, safe work zone, and hold a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities include clearing debris with pruners and saws, setting up staging areas, feeding brush into a woodchipper, loading/unloading materials, operating trucks, and basic maintenance. Overtime and weekend work may be required, and travel is possible during storm restoration.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries preferred.
• Valid Driver’s license required. CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety rules to maintain a clean and safe work zone.
• Work from the ground using handsaws, pole saws, pruners, loppers, and gasoline-powered equipment to cut brush and trees.
• Define staging areas and set up/break down materials, tools, and equipment.
• Prepare and feed brush into woodchipper; load/unload logs, stumps, brush, and debris.
• Operate trucks and equipment; perform basic maintenance; report needs for major repairs.
• Tie knots, rope breaks, and speed lines per industry standards; flag traffic to protect workers.
• Able to work long hours and overtime during emergencies.
