Job summary

College of DuPage is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Worker to perform routine landscape duties, install and maintain pavers, and operate a range of grounds equipment on a year‑round schedule. The role includes mowing, fertilizing, applying herbicides, and assisting in irrigation and athletic field prep.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, six months in turf or landscaping, valid Illinois Driver’s License, and an Illinois Pesticide Operators license within 6 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED.
• Six months experience in turf maintenance, landscaping, or snow removal.
• Illinois Pesticide Operators license required within 6 months of hire.
• Valid Illinois Driver’s License required.
• Experience in grounds equipment repair preferred.
• COD Training: Bloodborne Pathogens, Hazardous Communications, Forklift/Scissor/Aerial Lift, Electrical Safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine landscape maintenance: repair, demolition, construction, installation, and care of plants, trees, hardscapes, turf and related equipment.
• Maintain trees, plants, and turf; install and maintain pavers and hardscapes.
• Use landscaping equipment to perform duties and maintain turf.
• Mow, trim, weed, and repair turf; apply herbicides and pesticides.
• Coordinate daily work with end users, subcontractors, and facilities staff.
• Assist irrigation in programming, maintenance, and repair.
• Assist in athletic field maintenance and field prep for games.
• Reliable to report to work during emergency conditions.
