Job summary

College of DuPage, a comprehensive community college near Chicago, is seeking a Groundskeeper (FT) to maintain lawns, trees, and hardscapes across the 273-acre campus. You will operate standard grounds equipment, mow and trim turf, apply herbicides and pesticides, and assist in irrigation and seasonal snow removal tasks.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, six months of turf/landscape experience, and a valid Illinois driver's license.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience: Six months in turf maintenance, landscaping, or snow removal.
• Must obtain Illinois Pesticide Operators license within 6 months of hire.
• Valid Illinois Driver's License required.
• Experience with grounds equipment repair preferred.
• COD trainings: Bloodborne Pathogens, Hazardous Communications, Forklift/Scissor/Aerial Lift, Electrical Safety.

Responsibilities

• Maintain lawns, trees, and hardscapes, including installation and care of plants and turf.
• Mow, trim, weed, and repair turf grass; operate landscaping equipment.
• Apply herbicides and pesticides per regulations.
• Assist in irrigation system programming and maintenance.
• Coordinate daily work with end users, subcontractors, and facilities staff.
• Perform snow removal and other seasonal duties.
• Maintain records and report unsafe conditions.
