Xavier University is looking to hire a Groundskeeper I to maintain a safe and attractive campus under the Office of Physical Plant. The role covers turf care, landscaping, and mow crew assistance, ensuring Xavier standards are met on the Cincinnati campus.

Required are a high school diploma or GED, 1–3 years of relevant experience, and a valid driver’s license; pesticide license is preferred. This is a full-time, on-site position within the university grounds team.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operates hand and power tools to maintain grass, fields, and landscaping, and supports snow removal.
• Maintains soil, plants bulbs, trims hedges and trees, weeds beds, and moves heavy items with assistance.
• Cleans and maintains grounds equipment, keeps maintenance records.
• Collects litter, manages recycling, and assists with related activities across campus.

Groundskeeper I

Xavier University is looking to hire a Groundskeeper for the Officeof Physical Plant. The primary purpose of this position is tomaintain a safe and beautiful campus according to Xavier standards.Includes but not limited to sports fields, landscaping, and mowcrew assistance.

JOB RESPONSIBILTIES:

• Operates hand and power tools to cut, trim, edge grass, turf,and (maintain athletic fields by dragging, laying out, lining, andpainting) applies chemicals, prunes trees and shrubs, trim hedges,mulches, removes snow, etc. All while wearing appropriate personalprotective equipment and following all established safetyprocedures.
• Applies top soil, grades surfaces; prepares seed beds, plantsbulbs; trims hedges, shrubs, and trees; weeds flower beds, andremoves trees and shrubs by lifting or moving heavy equipment ormaterial un assisted up to 125 pounds. Lifts or moves heavier itemsby communicating with assistance.
• Picks up litter, trash, and removes trash and recycling fromcans; keeps records of work performed, time and material used andsimilar maintenance data and reports the same. Also responsible fortaking scrap metal recyclables to the recycling center.
• Services and repairs, cleans, and performs daily andpreventative maintenance on grounds equipment and shop.
• Assists other departments in related activities (sets up anddelivers equipment, furniture, supplies, and Christmas lights,etc.)
