Job summary

Xavier University is looking to hire a Groundskeeper I to maintain a safe and attractive campus under the Office of Physical Plant. The role covers turf care, landscaping, and mow crew assistance, ensuring Xavier standards are met on the Cincinnati campus.

Required are a high school diploma or GED, 1–3 years of relevant experience, and a valid driver’s license; pesticide license is preferred. This is a full-time, on-site position within the university grounds team.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; vocational/technical training preferred.
1–3 years of relevant experience.
Valid driver’s license required; pesticide license preferred.
Continuing education encouraged.

Responsibilities

Operates hand and power tools to maintain grass, fields, and landscaping, and supports snow removal.
Maintains soil, plants bulbs, trims hedges and trees, weeds beds, and moves heavy items with assistance.
Cleans and maintains grounds equipment, keeps maintenance records.
Collects litter, manages recycling, and assists with related activities across campus.
