Qualifications

License and Certification: Valid Georgia Class C Driver's License required. CAT.24 Pesticide license preferred, with the ability to obtain CAT.24 within 180 days of employment.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: Experience in landscape maintenance/installation, including commercial grounds maintenance, parks maintenance, or plant nursery preferred.

Skills: Ability to operate commercial mowing and landscape equipment (specifically Hustler mowers), follow oral and written instructions quickly and accurately, and apply herbicides as directed.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Perform landscape maintenance and construction tasks as part of a crew; supervise contract services as assigned.
   • Maintain school campuses, including mowing lawns and playgrounds.
   • Prune plants and mulch planting beds.
   • Ensure campuses are safe and attractive.
   • Assist in planning and directing contractors with the Head Groundskeeper.
2. Perform first echelon operator maintenance on landscape equipment and vehicles.
3. Assist in completing Work Order Reports and record keeping.
4. Follow safety procedures and be aware of groundskeeping hazards.
5. Work cooperatively with department members and supervise contracted services.
6. Maintain positive relationships with district employees.
7. Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

Frequent standing, walking, handling, reaching, talking, and hearing. Occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Must occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds. Visual requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, with the ability to focus. Operate motor vehicles. Exposure to mechanical parts, weather, fumes, airborne particles, and electrical shock risk. Moderate noise level. Accommodations available for disabilities.
