Job Description

The Grounds Maintenance Associate I and II positions involve providing customer service, landscaping, janitorial duties, and litter collection. Responsibilities also include performing minor repairs and routine maintenance of equipment, buildings, grounds, and aquatic centers.

Essential Duties

1. Maintain natural and synthetic turf athletic fields.
2. Maintain baseball infields, including dragging infields, changing home plates, and base anchors.
3. Operate irrigation systems and perform minor repairs.
4. Maintain passive areas.
5. Operate tractors and commercial zero-turn mowers.
6. Operate small engine equipment such as backpack blowers, edgers, and string trimmers.
7. Inspect park assets, including playgrounds, for safety standards.
8. Apply herbicides, fertilizers, pre-emergents, post-emergents, playground mulch, and mulching islands.
9. Perform equipment preventative maintenance.
10. Maintain and repair chain link fencing and gates.

Public Speaking Duties

1. Interact with Youth Athletic Associations and park users.
2. Report incidents following proper chain of command.
3. Provide maintenance reports.

Other Job Requirements/Information

This job may require on-call rotation and emergency after-hours, weekend, and holiday work.

Grade

Salary depends on education and experience.

Minimum Qualifications

1. High school diploma or GED.
2. Two years of ground maintenance experience (for Ground Maintenance Associate I). An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
3. Valid driver's license (for Ground Maintenance Associate II).
