Job Summary
The Temporary Grounds & Maintenance Specialist at Camp Misty Mountain will provide maintenance support for property and equipment. They will ensure operational and aesthetic standards are maintained and deliver exceptional customer service to all internal and external customers.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain camp properties and service center facilities in good repair for use by volunteers, members, and visitors.
- Perform preventative and restorative maintenance using a computerized work order system, including repairs to buildings and equipment in areas such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and painting.
- Carry out specific repairs like flooring, screening, gutters, interior window cleaning, bulb and ballast replacement, battery replacement, painting, and carpet care.
- Respond to work orders generated through the system.
- Maintain grounds by cutting weeds and grass, trimming trees, blowing leaves, and clearing brush.
- Keep properties free of litter and debris, including trails, parking lots, and exteriors.
- Provide customer service to guests on Girl Scout property.
- Coordinate with the Ranger on check-ins, activity setups, and staying on camp during inclement weather.
- Work with vendors and contractors for repairs and maintenance, including elevators, fire and security systems, water and waste systems, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
- Report any abnormal or malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor.
- Maintain relevant certifications such as Certified Pool Operator or groundwater systems.
- Comply with insurance, local, county, state, and federal regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned or implied by employment agreement.
Skills & Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge and skills in trades needed for building and grounds maintenance.
- Experience with farm equipment like tractors, backhoes, and commercial mowers.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, with a positive attitude and flexibility.
- Ability to take initiative, make sound decisions, and pay attention to detail.
- Responsibility for safety and security of guests and staff.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Strong commitment to Girl Scouting's values and mission.
- Valid Georgia driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Willingness to travel within the council jurisdiction.
- Certification in Pool Operation and/or Class 4 Water Operator is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Good physical health; ability to read, write, stand, walk, stoop, bend, and climb ladders and stairs.
- Manual dexterity and ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
- Ability to walk long distances on rough terrain.
- Must pass criminal, motor vehicle, and credit background checks.
