Job summary

Quinnipiac University is seeking a Groundskeeper to maintain and improve our campus grounds at North Haven and Mount Carmel locations. This union role pays an hourly rate of 34.70 USD, plus a $1.00 per hour shift differential for hours after 3:00 pm on weekdays or weekends.

Two shifts are available: North Haven: Thu, Fri, Mon 7:30am-4:00pm and Sat-Sun 6am-2:30pm; Mount Carmel: Mon-Wed 6:00am-2:30pm and Sat-Sun 7:30am-4:00pm. Full benefits apply.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CT driver's license required.
• Experience in grounds maintenance.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Knowledge of ground maintenance including fertilizing, weed control.
• Operate power mowers, tractors, snow blowers.
• Drive trucks, buses, forklifts and assist with snow removal.
• May supervise custodians or student groundskeeper helpers.

Overview:

Quinnipiac University invites applications for the position ofGroundskeeper. We’re looking for a dedicated Groundskeeper to helpkeep our grounds safe, clean, and welcoming year-round. In thisrole, you’ll be responsible for a variety of tasks—from plantingand pruning to operating power equipment and assisting with snowremoval. You’ll also perform minor repairs and support generalcustodial duties. If you’re reliable, skilled with tools andmachinery, and ready to make a visible impact every day, we’d loveto hear from you!

Please note this is a union position with an hourly rate of$34.70.

In addition to the base pay set forth above, a shift differentialof $1.00 per hour will be paid for all hours worked in shiftsbeginning at or after 3:00pm on a weekday or on Saturday orSunday.

Two shifts available:

Thursday, Friday, and Monday 7:30am-4:00pm and Saturday, Sunday6am to 2:30pm on our North Haven campus.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 6:00am to 2:30pm and Saturday, Sunday7:30am to 4:00pm on our Mount Carmel campus.

Responsibilities:

• Must have knowledge of ground maintenance including but notlimited to, fertilizing, weed control, planting, and pruningandgeneral custodial duties.
• Must be able to perform a variety of semi-skilledGroundskeeper-Custodial duties on his/her own, such as minorirrigation repair, minor maintenance to small, motorized equipment,erecting staging, operating power mowers, tractors/mowers, snowblowers, and other grounds keeping equipment.
• Must drive trucks, buses, forklifts, and other motorizedequipment, which may include emergency fill-in for a Mechanic I onsnow removal.
• Groundskeepers may be called for emergencies as required,including snow removal.
• May supervise custodians and/or students assigned asGroundskeeper helpers.

Education Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED required

Qualifications:

• Must have a valid CT driver's license
• Prior experience in grounds maintenance with ability to operatepower mowers, tractors, snow blowers
• Basic understanding of safety procedures and equipmentmaintenance
• Ability to lift to 50 lbs
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with individuals fromvaried backgrounds.
