• Unclog toilets/sinks/showers and manage cleaning platforms.
• Lock/unlock premises and ensure a safe, welcoming campus environment.

Job description

Overview:

Quinnipiac University, located in the picturesque Mount Carmel -Hamden, CT area, invites applications for a full-time Custodian position within our facilities department. As a Custodian at Quinnipiac University, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of our vibrant campus.

There are multiple shifts available, please indicate preference on the application.

• Tuesday-Saturday, 4:00pm to 12:30am
• Saturday-Wednesday, 4:00pm to 12:30am
• Monday-Friday, 4:00pm to 12:30am

Responsibilities:

• Sweeping, mopping, dusting, cleaning windows, washing walls, cleaning lavatories, polishing metal and wood, washing, stripping and waxing floors and emptying trash receptacles.
• Assisting in setting up events as required, including moving furniture.
• Shoveling snow and sand in the immediate area around doorways.
• Grounds work around the immediate vicinity of buildings.
• Operate company vehicles safely.
• Replace light bulbs to ensure a safe and well-lit environment.
• Perform spot painting tasks, not patching.
• Change ceiling tiles, including cutting tiles, by consent.
• Unclog toilets, sinks, and showers with the aid of a plunger.
• Platform cleaning, by consent.
• Working from an 8ft ladder for certain cleaning tasks.
• Locking and unlocking premises.
• Ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for our students, faculty, and staff.
• Other related work as required.

Compensation and Requirements:

• Starting hourly rate is $21.33.
• In addition to the base pay set forth above, a shift differential of one dollar ($1.00) per hour will be paid for all hours worked in shifts (1) beginning at or after 3:00p.m. on a weekday or (2) on Saturday or Sunday.
• This position requires successful completion of a physical demands exam, drug screening, and background check. The physical demands exam includes but is not limited to lifting up to 25 lbs., push/pull, and climbing.
