Job summary

Quinnipiac University is seeking a full-time Custodian on the North Haven campus to maintain cleanliness across facilities. The role includes event setup, snow removal, grounds work, and safe operation of vehicles, with shifts Monday/Tuesday/Friday 6:00am–2:30pm and Saturday/Sunday 7:30am–4:00pm.

Strong attention to detail, customer service, and the ability to work independently are essential. A CT driver’s license is required and safety checks are part of the process.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in maintenance and custodial duties is required.

Responsibilities

• Sweeping, mopping, dusting, cleaning windows, washing walls, cleaning lavatories, polishing metal and wood, washing, stripping and waxing floors and emptying trash receptacles.
• Assisting in setting up events as required, including moving furniture.
• Shoveling snow and sand in the immediate area around doorways.
• Grounds work around the immediate vicinity of buildings.
• Operate company vehicles safely.
• Replace light bulbs to ensure a safe and well-lit environment.
• Perform spot painting tasks, not patching.
• Change ceiling tiles, including cutting tiles, by consent.
• Unclog toilets, sinks, and showers with the aid of a plunger.
• Platform cleaning, by consent.
• Working from an 8ft ladder for certain cleaning tasks.
• Locking and unlocking premises.
• Ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for our students, faculty, and staff.
• Other related work as required.

Starting hourly rate is $21.33.

In addition to the base pay set forth above, a shiftdifferential of one dollar($1.00) per hour will be paid for all hours worked in shifts(1) beginning at or after 3:00p.m on a weekday or (2) on Saturday or Sunday.

This position requires successful completion of a physicaldemands exam, drug screening, and background check. The physicaldemands exam includes but is not limited to lifting up to 25 lbs.,push/pull, and climbing.
