Job summary

Capital Vacations is seeking a Grounds Care Associate to perform a variety of exterior maintenance tasks across the resort, including cleaning grills, mowing, weed pulling, lighting checks, and daily perimeter walks.

You will follow safety rules, wear a clean uniform, and report hazards. The role requires weekend and holiday work, dependable attendance, and the ability to work under supervision while maintaining a high standard of cleanliness.

Qualifications

• Background in ground care and knowledge of lawn, plants, and trees.
• Experience with mowers, trimmers, edgers and sprinkler systems.
• Ability to read Basic English sentences and follow simple instructions.
• Good judgment to apply common sense in routine tasks.
• Background check will be completed as a condition of employment.
• Dependability and ability to work without constant supervision.
• Comfort around machinery and tolerance of heat.
• Willingness to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to solve practical problems with available variables.

Responsibilities

• Maintain regular attendance including weekends and holidays and clocking in/out.
• Empty all trash cans on grounds twice daily.
• Clean grills (charcoal and gas) regularly.
• Mop and wipe interior elevators daily.
• Blow off beach boardwalk daily.
• Walk the property to collect trash and debris for a clean environment.
• Adjust beach water condition flags daily as needed.
• Vacuum hallways in buildings.
• Pull weeds from garden circles.
• Replenish supplies in receptacles throughout the property.
• Check exterior lighting and bulbs; maintain cleanliness of hallways and exterior fixtures.
• Report hazards and follow safety rules; wear appropriate uniform and dress codes.
• Participate in health and OSHA safety meetings/classes.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Performs a variety of ground care tasks aimed at enhancing the overall appearance of the resort exterior. Must always follow the rules and regulations as set forth by the latest Employee Handbook.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain regular attendance in compliance with resort standards, including working weekends and holidays; follows procedures for clocking in and out.
• Empties all trash cans on grounds two times per day.
• Cleans charcoal and gas grills regularly.
• Mop and wipe down interior of elevators daily.
• Blow off beach boardwalk daily.
• Walk entire property, both exterior and under buildings, picking up trash and debris to help maintain a clean environment for all employees, owners and guests.
• Adjust beach water condition flags daily as needed.
• Vacuum hallways in buildings K and L.
• Pull weeds from the crop circles.
• Replenish mutt-mitts in receptacles throughout the property.
• Check exterior lighting for burned out light bulbs.
• Keep hallways, stairwells and exterior light fixtures free of cobwebs and bugs.
• Always conduct themself in a professional manner.
• Maintains proper dress code and keeps uniforms neat and clean and worn during working hours.
• Required to report hazardous conditions for the safety of all employees and guests, including placing wet floor signs in necessary areas around the property during inclement weather or as needed.
• Ability to accept constructive criticism and understand/follow posted work rules and procedures.
• Has the ability to follow directions from a supervisor and interact well with co-workers, subordinates and supervisors.
• Participates in all required health and OSHA safety meetings/classes.
• Performs any other various duties that may be assigned by the General Manager, Assistant General Manager, Front Desk Supervisor or VRI Director of Resorts.

Qualifications:

• A background and understanding of proper methods of ground care including knowledge of various lawn, plant and tree varieties.
• Experience with various ground care equipment such a mowers, trimmers, and edgers and an understanding of sprinkler systems.
• Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to understand and speak Basic English sentences.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
• Background check will be completed as a condition of employment.
• Must be dependable and be able to work with out constant supervision.
• Must be comfortable around machinery and tolerant of heat.
• Ability to learn quickly and work in fast paced position.
• Ability to apply common sense to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
