Job summary

Xylem Tree Experts in Washington state is seeking a Groundsperson to support the crew by clearing brush and trees from the ground and performing post-work clean-up. Dispatching is handled by IBEW, ensuring union represented employment.

The role requires physical strength, the ability to work outdoors in variable weather, and the skill to operate hand tools and chainsaws safely. A driver’s license is needed for driving tasks, with opportunities for storm-related duties when required.

Qualifications

• Must have physical strength and balance to drag heavy limbs and use pruners on uneven terrain.
• Able to work outdoors under varying and sometimes adverse weather conditions.
• Must be able to hear verbal instructions from a distance and wear PPE.
• Must maintain first-aid certification and CPR when applicable.
• Driver’s License required if hired for driving position.

Responsibilities

• Follow and enforce safe practices and rules.
• Keep work area clear of debris.
• Work from the ground and clear undergrowth from right-of-way using hand tools and gas-powered saws.
• Load and unload trucks with logs, brush and debris; feed brush into the chipper.
• Use hand lines to lower limbs and equipment.
• Perform site clean-up after work and store materials and equipment securely.
• Set up and break down road signs; flag traffic to protect workers and public.
• Operate trucks or other equipment as assigned; perform basic maintenance and report repairs.
• Assist with storm work as needed; comply with I-9 and E-Verify requirements.
