Job summary

The City of Washington is seeking a diligent grounds maintenance worker to care for public spaces, cemeteries, and streets. You will perform mowing, trimming, debris removal, and leaf collection, while assisting with basic concrete and asphalt tasks and drainage work.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and at least 6 months of related unskilled maintenance experience. A valid NC driver’s license is required, and comfort with outdoor, physically demanding work is essential.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of grounds maintenance tasks such as mowing, trimming, and cleaning public grounds.
• Assist with asphalt and concrete construction/maintenance and drainage installations.
• Operate light equipment and handle basic vehicle maintenance and inspections.
• Help with leaf collection, sign installation, and debris removal.
• Ensure safe operation of equipment and adherence to safety procedures.
