Job summary

The City of Peachtree City is seeking a Ground Maintenance Worker to perform unskilled manual work in the Ground Maintenance Department. Duties include mowing, edging, trimming, weed eating, litter pickup, and operating mowers and related tools and equipment.

Work involves outdoor grounds maintenance, safety inspections, and assisting with city events. High school diploma required; no prior experience needed; valid Georgia driver’s license and flagging certificate preferred.

Qualifications

• High school Diploma or equivalent.
• No experience required.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a Georgia Department of Transportation Flagging Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Performs mowing, edging, blowing, trimming, and weed eating of rights-of-way, landscape islands, facilities, and other city owned property.
• Operates a variety of hand and power tools and light equipment such as mowers, weed eaters, pole saws, and power trimmers.
• Picks up and disposes of litter; loads and unloads materials, supplies, equipment, trash, and other debris.
• Performs equipment safety inspections; cleans and maintains tools and equipment; and reports mechanical or other defects to supervisor.
• Reports any safety hazards to the supervisor.
• Operates a City vehicle in the performance of duties.
• Responds to and participates in emergency calls.
• Removes and disposes of deceased animals from roadways and public areas.
• Mows and maintains cart paths.
• Assists with special City events and special projects.
