Job summary

Ashland School District 5 is seeking a Maintenance I Worker for an 8-hour, 1.0 FTE position with probationary status. The role focuses on grounds keeping and may include maintenance, construction, and repair of facilities as needed.

The position reports to the Director of Maintenance; compensation is $18.72–$22.85 per hour according to the 2025-26 Salary Schedule, with 2026-27 to be determined. Duties require moderate supervision and adherence to district policies.

Qualifications

• Grounds maintenance experience preferred.
• Ability to follow district policies and procedures.
• Ability to perform duties with moderate supervision.

Responsibilities

• Follows and maintains knowledge of all applicable District policy(ies) and procedures.
• Performs routine grounds keeping duties including insect control, grass cutting, and tree and shrub trimming to maintain the grounds in a safe and attractive condition.
• Operates and maintains lawn mowers and sweepers and other power equipment used in grounds work (sprayers, pruners, and trimmers).
• Scrapes, sands, fills, or in other manners, prepares surface for painting or repainting.
• Applies finishes, paints, and stains to various surfaces such as wood, metal, glass, plaster, stucco, wall board, brick and cement.
• Maintains flower beds and other landscaping including laying
