Job summary

Ashland School District 5 is seeking a Custodian for the Maintenance Department. This 1.0 FTE, probationary position keeps school buildings and surrounding grounds clean and safe for students, staff, and the community.

Works with minimal supervision to provide reliable service and a welcoming environment. Responsibilities include daily cleaning, floor care, restroom sanitation, event setup, basic repairs, and collaboration with staff to maintain facilities.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Interpersonal skills: works well with staff and students.
• Must be able to work swing shift 3:00pm–11:30pm.
• Physical ability to perform cleaning tasks and lift/move items.

Responsibilities

• Daily cleaning and disinfection of rooms, halls, restrooms, and offices.
• Floor care: vacuum, sweep, mop, wax, and buff surfaces as assigned.
• Restroom and locker room cleaning; waste disposal and restocking supplies.
• Set up and tear down tables, chairs and equipment for events.
• Report hazards and perform basic repairs within scope of duties.
