Job summary

City of Arlington is seeking a Grounds/Contract Inspector to oversee contracted grounds maintenance across the City's infrastructure. You will ensure work meets City specifications, standards, and performance expectations while coordinating with contractors and internal stakeholders.

This role requires knowledge of turf management, safety practices, and the ability to read contracts, with responsibilities spanning inspection, documentation, and budget support.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of grounds maintenance practices and materials.
• Knowledge of safety practices in grounds maintenance and traffic control.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Strong record-keeping and documentation skills.
• Effective communication with public, staff and contractors.
• Ability to read and interpret contract specifications.
• Ability to evaluate materials, methods and workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Inspect workmanship, materials, and service quality for contracted grounds maintenance to ensure compliance with standards and contracts.
• Issue punch-list items, document corrections, and verify completion.
• Establish and monitor traffic control plans per City policies and TMUTCD.
• Maintain detailed project documentation including photos, videos and evaluations.
• Communicate with citizens, contractors, and stakeholders to resolve concerns and improve service.
• Assist planning and monitoring annual operating budgets and contract scopes.
• Ensure regulatory, environmental, safety, and reporting requirements are followed.
