Job summary

Knoxville's Community Development Corporation (KCDC) is seeking a Maintenance Technician I to keep our housing communities clean, safe, and welcoming. You will perform janitorial tasks, assist with preparing housing units for new residents, and help maintain grounds and common areas to ensure a quality living environment for residents and staff.

The role emphasizes hands-on, detail-oriented work, teamwork with property managers, and a commitment to maintaining a respectful, well-kept community

Qualifications

• Knowledge of KCDC obligations, functions, programs, and services.
• Knowledge of HazMat regulations for chemicals used in job performance.
• Ability to write and speak clearly; effective communication with residents and staff.
• Ability to organize time to meet assignments.
• Mechanical understanding of hand and small power tools, vacuum, floor buffer, cleaning chemicals.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment under pressure.
• Ability to communicate in English; strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Keep community spaces welcoming; clean lobbies, halls, offices, restrooms, and shared areas.
• Prepare homes for residents; clean units, remove trash, clean appliances, and ready surfaces for painting.
• Make floors and surfaces shine; sweep, mop, scrub, vacuum; clean walls, windows, ceilings, and fixtures.
• Care for the grounds; clean walkways, parking lots, and outdoor areas.
• Keep supplies and repairs on the radar; notify supervisor for materials and repairs.
• Support daily operations; assist with locking/unlocking buildings and setting up meeting spaces.
• Perform other duties to support KCDC's mission and communities.
