Job summary

Knoxville’s Community Development Corporation seeks a Maintenance Technician I to perform janitorial duties and basic building upkeep across KCDC properties. Under supervision, you will keep lobbies, restrooms, halls, and common areas clean and safe for residents, visitors, and staff.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED and at least one year of custodial experience. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, work flexible shifts, and follow safety guidelines including HAZMAT awareness.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and at least 1 year custodial experience.
• Ability to read and follow safety guidelines.
• Willingness to perform cleaning and maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and maintains lobbies, community halls, offices, and restrooms.
• Performs general cleaning of leased units as assigned.
• Sweeps, mops, vacuums floors using cleaning solutions, tools, and equipment.
• Cleans walls, ceilings, windows, and fixtures; applies wax or sealers as appropriate.
• Maintains grounds and common areas; empties trash in common areas and offices.
• Notifies supervisor of materials/supplies or major repairs.
• Assists in maintaining building security and access to buildings.
• Assists with office moves and meeting setup as needed.
• Prepares housing units for painting; advises supervisor of repairs noted during cleaning.
• Cleans appliances and disinfects bathrooms.
• Removes trash from vacated units; cleans grounds.
