Job summary

Knoxville's Community Development Corporation (KCDC) is seeking a Maintenance Technician I to help keep our communities clean, safe, and welcoming. You will perform janitorial tasks, assist with preparing housing units, and maintain grounds under the supervision of a Property Manager or Maintenance Supervisor.

Strong attention to detail, reliability, and ability to work hands-on in a community setting are important. This non-supervisory role supports residents and staff daily in Knoxville, TN.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; minimum 1 year custodial experience, preferably property maintenance.
• Knowledge of HAZMAT regulations for chemicals used onsite.
• Ability to write and speak clearly in English to staff, residents, and visitors.
• Strong time management and ability to organize own workload.

Responsibilities

• Keep community spaces welcoming: clean lobbies, halls, offices, restrooms, and shared areas.
• Prepare homes for residents: clean units, remove trash, clean appliances, disinfect fixtures, prep surfaces for painting.
• Maintain floors and surfaces: sweep, mop, scrub, vacuum, dust, wash walls/fixtures, apply floor wax/sealers.
• Care for grounds: clean walkways/parking areas, keep outdoor areas tidy.
• Report supply needs and building repairs to supervisor; assist with opening/closing buildings and setting up spaces.
• Perform other duties to support KCDC’s mission and communities.
