Job summary

The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking a Groundskeeper to develop and care for grounds, shrubs and plants, and to perform irrigation maintenance and repairs. Work is performed under close to general supervision, following set procedures.

Minimum requires three months in landscape maintenance; valid Florida Class E Driver's License; ability to obtain TWIC and Seaport credentials. Pesticide/Herbicide license preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires three months experience in landscape maintenance or closely related experience.
• Possess and maintain a valid Florida Class E Driver's License.
• Ability to secure TWIC within 60 days of employment and for duration of employment.
• Ability to secure Seaport Business Purpose Credential for duration of employment.
• Preference given to Pesticide/Herbicide License.

Responsibilities

• Mows grass; plants and transplants shrubs; fertilizes lawn and plants; trims bushes and trees; sprays lawns and shrubs to control insects, diseases, and pests.
• Uses standard gardening tools in maintenance work; performs irrigation system maintenance and repairs; waters plants manually, as required.
• Operates power mowers, trimmers, sprayers, chain saws, and other tools; maintains equipment in good working condition.
• Rakes and removes grass cuttings and leaves; sweeps adjacent streets and walkways; loads and unloads soil, sand, sod, rock, gravel and other ground covering materials, as required.
• Performs related work as assigned.
