Job summary

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) seeks a Grounds Guard for the District Headquarters in Rapides Parish (District 08/Unit 701). This hands‑on field role requires attention to detail, safety awareness, and strong documentation skills as part of the Facility Maintenance team.

You will perform rounds, inspect grounds, dispense fuel after hours, and assist with emergencies or disaster support as needed.

Qualifications

• No experience or training is required.
• This is a hands-on field role requiring attention to detail and safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Serves as grounds guard at DOTD Headquarters complex and/or other district/section facilities by routinely making rounds during assigned shift.
• Inspects grounds or job site for safeguarding equipment and materials against damage or loss due to theft, weather, or vandalism.
• Responds to emergencies impacting area and reports to proper authorities; routes calls as directed.
• Performs custodial duties to maintain cleaning of the grounds area.
• Dispenses fuel during after-hours and records such transactions.
• May be required to perform other duties including emergency/disaster support activities.
• May be subpoenaed as requested by DOTD legal Counsel.
