Job summary

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) seeks a night Guard at District 07 in Lake Charles to receive and respond to calls from the public, police, and bridge tenders after hours to support public safety.

Compensation is $26,707.00 annually. Work schedule follows a 7 days on / 7 days off pattern. No prior experience is required, and applicants must be at least 18 with potential license requirements as stated.

Responsibilities

• Serves as grounds guard at DOTD District 07 complex facilities by routinely making rounds during assigned shift.
• Inspects grounds or job site for safeguarding equipment and/or materials against theft, weather, or vandalism.
• Responds to emergencies impacting area and reports to proper authorities; routes calls to authorities.
• Receives and responds to incoming calls from the public and law enforcement.
• May perform other duties including emergency/disaster support activities.

The overall function of this position is to serve as a night guard at DOTD District 07 in Lake Charles.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

Applicants may be required to possess a current Louisiana driver’s license.

Job Duties:

Depending on level and assignment, Guard may:

• Serves as grounds guard at DOTD District 07 complex facilities by routinely making rounds during assigned shift.
• Inspects grounds or job site for the purpose of safe‑guarding equipment and/or materials against damage or loss due to theft, weather, or vandalism.
• Responds to various emergencies impacting area by promptly reporting incident to proper authorities for their further direction/action; receives/routes calls to proper authorities.
• Receiving and responding to incoming calls from the public and law enforcement.
• May be required to perform other duties as necessary including, but not limited to, emergency/disaster support activities.

Position‑Specific Details:

Compensation: Guard – $ 26,707.00 Annual

Appointment Type: This position may be filled as either a probational appointment (open to all qualified applicants); or by detail to special duty.

Work Schedule: Work hours are based on a 7 days on and 7 days off
