Job summary

State of Colorado is hiring for a General Labor role at the Maneuver Area and Training Equipment Site (MATES) at Ft. Carson. The position is part of the Facilities Management branch and involves independent and team-based maintenance duties.

Responsibilities include grounds maintenance, shop upkeep, painting, HVAC preventative work, and equipment handling. The role requires background checks, a Colorado license, and willingness to work overtime and on-call hours.

Qualifications

• Must be willing to pass a background check at initial employment and periodically thereafter.
• Must hold and maintain a valid Colorado Driver License.
• Successful completion of a security clearance within nine months may be required.
• Must be willing to submit to random drug and alcohol testing.
• Must be willing to work overtime and on call as needed.
• Able to perform strenuous labor and physical tasks.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, reach, and lift up to 100 pounds.

Responsibilities

• maintain facility grounds including weed control, lawn mowing, fencing, snow removal, and sprinkler repairs
• keep shop and worksite orderly on a daily basis
• paint and patch surfaces using various finishes and materials
• perform preventative maintenance on HVAC and assist other technicians
• keep facilities clean with sweeping, mopping, lighting and inventory tasks
• operate and maintain hand and power tools, equipment, and vehicles as needed
• update safety data sheets, label supplies, and conduct inspections; participate in safety meetings
• respond to facility emergencies during weekends and holidays; escort contractors onsite
