Job summary

Grand Haven City Hall is seeking a Street Division Maintenance Worker to perform a broad range of infrastructure upkeep tasks, from parks and streets to buildings and utilities. The role requires CDL with tanker and air brake endorsements and hands-on experience with heavy equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2–3 years on-the-job experience in an equivalent position preferred.
• CDL with tanker and air brake endorsements required; valid driving record.
• Ability to read grade stakes, blueprints, and specifications to perform required work.
• Knowledge of safe work practices and mechanical/electrical/plumbing problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventative maintenance and repairs on city infrastructure across parks, grounds, cemetery, buildings, utilities, streets and motor pool.
• Document results of maintenance in logs and alert supervisor to repair needs.
• Carry out general cleaning of equipment and facilities and perform minor repairs.
• Operate and maintain heavy equipment and perform snow removal when required.
• Prepare streets and parking lots for patching and manage concrete work and repairs.
• Remove damaged structures, trim trees, and support painting and maintenance tasks.
• Assist in maintenance of underground utilities and sprinkler systems as needed.
