Job summary

City of Midland is seeking an Equipment Operator II to perform general labor and operate medium to heavy street maintenance equipment for the City’s street and drainage projects. The role includes daily equipment maintenance, operating a variety of machinery, and working with minimal supervision.

The incumbent will be familiar with street and drainage assets, set grade with transit and levels, and perform related duties as required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3 years related experience required.
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate general labor and a variety of heavy equipment used in street and drainage maintenance.
• Perform daily preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Inspect equipment and maintain safety in work zones and job sites.
• Set grade and alignment using transit/level and grade pins.
• Load and unload materials and assist with traffic control setup.
• Attend safety meetings monthly and comply with safety standards.
• Fulfill on-call duties per Transportation's roster.
