Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company in Needham, MA is seeking an Arborist Crew Leader to direct outdoor tree care teams. The role involves climbing trees, leading a crew, and delivering high-quality arboricultural services at client sites.

Responsibilities include mentoring crew members, safely operating tools, and implementing HOPE planning. Certifications and licenses are preferred, with company-provided training and advancement opportunities available.

Qualifications

• Must love the outdoors.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Orientation Program on hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course on hire.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Pesticide licenses and related certificates preferred.
• ISA Certified Arborist, ISA Certified Tree Worker and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional preferred.

• Lead a crew to provide arboricultural care for clients.
• Climb trees using DdRT/MRS or SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Mentor crew members through the Davey Career Development Program.
• Maintain, prepare and operate tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.
• Manage jobsite hazards, planning, HOPE process, and safety protocols.
• Install cables, bracing and lightning protection systems.
• Remove hazardous trees and perform pruning and removal as needed.

Compensation

$35-$45 Hourly (Based on experience and certifications)

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Safely and productively lead a crew in providing arboricultural care for our clients.

Including but not limited to:

• Jobsite Hazards, Obstacles, Plan, Equipment (H.O.P.E) process
• Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy
• Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems
• Removal of hazardous trees
• Mentor crew members through the Davey Career Development Program.
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.

Qualifications

• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Valid Driver's License required
