Job summary

C. Herman Construction, LLC is seeking an experienced Assistant Superintendent for ground-up, multi-family projects. This role reports to the project Superintendent and focuses on onsite management from inception through final acceptance.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of relevant experience, strong leadership and communication skills, and the ability to supervise subcontractors while maintaining safe, efficient job sites and meeting milestones.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in ground-up, multi-family projects (100+ units) or similar experience.
• Engineering or Construction Management degree preferred but not required.
• Proficient at reading and interpreting plans, specs, drawings, contracts and other docs.
• Strong communication and leadership skills with ability to coordinate teams.
• Experience with construction management software and MS Office tools, Procore preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily with the Superintendent and on-site team.
• Assist in managing on-site personnel and maintain a safe work environment.
• Ensure OSHA/compliance policies are followed on-site.
• Participate in weekly subcontractor and safety meetings.
• Monitor subcontractors to ensure compliance with budgets and timelines.
• Maintain construction schedules and proper sequencing for efficiency.
• Notify Superintendent of design issues and plan changes.
• Ensure milestones are met and plans are understood by all crews.
• Review scopes to ensure subcontractors meet contractual obligations.
• Prepare turnover sheets and logs; assist with vendor payments.
