Summary
An established general contractor is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to support field operations on ground-up multifamily construction projects. This position will work closely with the Superintendent and Project Management team to coordinate subcontractors, maintain schedules, monitor quality and safety, and keep day-to-day field activities moving efficiently.
The ideal candidate has experience with ground-up apartments, mixed-use residential, affordable housing, or similar multifamily developments and is looking to continue developing toward a lead Superintendent position.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Superintendent with daily field operations on ground-up multifamily projects
- Support projects from sitework and foundations through vertical construction, interiors, and turnover
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, field personnel, inspections, and material deliveries
- Assist with short-term look-ahead schedules, trade sequencing, and manpower planning
- Monitor subcontractor progress and help maintain project milestones
- Coordinate concrete, framing, building envelope, MEP, drywall, interiors, and finish activities
- Review drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings
- Identify field conflicts and constructability issues and communicate them to project leadership
- Participate in subcontractor and foreman coordination meetings
- Coordinate inspections, testing, and required corrections
- Assist with site logistics, material staging, equipment, and deliveries
- Monitor workmanship and support project quality-control efforts
- Enforce jobsite safety procedures and OSHA requirements
- Maintain daily reports, progress photos, manpower records, and field documentation
- Track punch-list items and assist with project turnover and closeout
- Work closely with Project Managers and Superintendents to maintain alignment between field and office operations
Requirements
- 3–7+ years of construction experience preferred
- Ground-up multifamily construction experience strongly preferred
- Experience as an Assistant Superintendent, Field Engineer, Lead Foreman, or similar field position
- Experience with apartments, affordable housing, mixed-use residential, or other multifamily construction
- Understanding of construction sequencing and subcontractor coordination
- Familiarity with concrete, framing, MEP, building envelope, interiors, and finishes
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings
- Understanding of inspections, quality control, jobsite safety, and construction logistics
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced field environment and manage multiple priorities
