Job summary

North Point Technology is seeking an experienced Controls / MES Engineer to lead a ground-up automation build for a major automotive customer in Warren, MI, focusing on PLC programming, HMI/SCADA development, and PLC-to-MES integration.

The ideal candidate has hands-on design through commissioning, with Rockwell Studio 5000, Ignition, and factory-floor integration experience and the ability to collaborate across IT, MES, and production teams.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience designing and building controls systems from ground up.
• Experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix/GuardLogix and Studio 5000.
• Experience with Inductive Automation Ignition and MES integration.
• Strong troubleshooting across controls hardware, PLC software, and networks.
• Experience in automotive or high-volume discrete manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop PLC programs from the ground up.
• Develop PLC architecture, ladder logic, tags, and sequencing.
• Build Ignition HMI/SCADA applications and screens.
• Integrate PLCs with MES and manage production data.
• Create label printing and barcode/RFID integration workflows.
• Support startup, debugging, FAT/SAT, and production launch.
