Job summary

Crane is seeking a Capacity Planning Specialist, Ground to secure qualified carrier coverage for ground shipments. You will source capacity, confirm rates and equipment, dispatch, and ensure live tracking before pickup.

The role emphasizes coverage speed, appointment integrity, and cost accuracy across Aljex and MacroPoint. Ideal candidates have 2–4 years in carrier procurement or dispatch, familiarity with Descartes Aljex, and strong coordination with internal teams.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of carrier procurement, dispatch, truckload brokerage, or capacity planning.
• Hands-on experience with a brokerage or transportation management system; Descartes Aljex strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of US domestic ground freight modes and hours-of-service constraints.

Responsibilities

• Monitor Open Shipments in Aljex for shipments in capacity planning queue and work by pickup urgency.
• Execute carrier confirmation: source capacity, confirm rate, equipment type, and driver availability.
• Complete dispatch and update Aljex with milestones; ensure MacroPoint tracking is live.
• Verify carrier compliance and post final FCC reference for revenue reconciliation.
• Escalate capacity shortfalls, no-coverage situations, and carrier service failures to management.
